If, when asked to do so, customers are not able to demonstrate that their device has power, they will not be allowed to fly on their planned service.  It will not be possible for customers to place the item in their hand or hold luggage - they will have to leave the item behind or rebook an alternative flight.

  • LHR Terminal 2 opens 4th June

    Tuesday, June 3, 2014 - 14:52
London Heathrow's brand-new Terminal 2 will open for business Wednesday, 4 June 2014, with United Airlines the first carrier to move in.
Terminal 2, also called the Queen's Terminal, will eventually be the Heathrow home for 23 Star Alliance member airlines, as well as Aer Lingus, Virgin Atlantic 'Little Red' and Germanwings.
    Key airline moves

    • 04 Jun - United Airlines (UA) from T1 and T4
    • 18 Jun - Air Canada (AC) from T3
    • 09 Jul - British Airways codeshare partner, Aer Lingus (EI), will move from T1
    • 10 Sept - Virgin's UK domestic services, 'Little Red'(VS), move from T1
    • 01 Oct - Lufthansa (LH) Star Alliance member move from T1
The new terminal has a similar 'wave' design as Terminal 5, with customers passing through self-service check-in, bag-drop and security. Once at full operational capacity the main terminal building, as well as its satellite 2B, will be handling 20 million passengers per year. A passenger tunnel connects the satellite from the main terminal building.
The departure area will have 62 shops and restaurants, including the first airport store for John Lewis and a 'cafe' operated by celebrity chef, Heston Blumenthal.
A new multi-storey car park has been built next to the terminal and all public transport will link directly into a striking central courtyard.
Terminal 2's opening is the culmination of £11 billion investment across Heathrow since 2003, which has seen the passenger experience transformed across all terminals. The next phase will see the redevelopment of Terminal 1, London's new train line, Crossrail, open to the airport in 2018 and a direct rail link from Terminal 5 to Slough and the western main rail line.
Minimum connecting times to/from BA services
    T2 to T1 - 1hr
    T2 to T3 - 1hr 15mins
    T2 to T5 - 1hr 30mins

  • Meet & Seat

    Wednesday, July 10, 2013 - 06:23

Travelers who like to talk to the person sitting next to them on a flight may be pleased to learn that it is now possible to choose a neighbor with similar interests to themselves.

The new 'Meet & Seat' initiative from Dutch airline KLM allows customers to choose who they sit next to, having studied the Facebook or LinkedIn profiles of fellow passengers before flying.

Passengers can choose how much information they want to be made available to other 'Meet & Seat' members. The service will be available on KLM flights from Amsterdam to San Francisco, New York and São Paulo; if successful, it will be rolled out across other intercontinental destinations.

  • Thought you had problems with excess baggage!!!

    Saturday, April 13, 2013 - 06:24
In Samoa, the national carrier has introduced the world's pay-by-weight system, with the tagline 'Pay only for what you weigh!'. Passengers have to declare their weight when booking tickets and are charged by the kilogram x distance. Samoa Air claims it is the fairest way to calculate what passengers should pay, as fuel costs are directly proportional to weight - especially on its little light aircraft - and if excess baggage is chargeable by the kilogram, why not the baggage owner, too?
